Purpose
The team exists to seek God's presence and pray faithfully for:
- The spiritual renewal of CCC
- Healing and restoration of relationships
- Former CCC participants
- Families who do not currently worship together
- People without a church home
- Pastors, leaders, ministries, and congregational needs
- The Homecoming Christmas Service
The Christ Central Intercessory Prayer Team seeks God's presence and prays faithfully for
spiritual renewal, restored relationships, the strengthening of Christ's church, and the
return of those who have become disconnected.

Simple Team Structure
Begin with a small team rather than an open-ended prayer ministry.
Pastoral Overseer
The Interim Pastor provides spiritual direction and handles sensitive pastoral matters.
Prayer Coordinator
One trusted member organizes meetings, receives approved prayer requests, and communicates with the pastor.
Intercessors
Three to five spiritually mature and dependable members commit to regular prayer and confidentiality.
Pilot period: September – December 2026 (three months)

Member Qualifications
Invite people who demonstrate:
A consistent personal prayer life
Spiritual maturity and emotional stability
Faithful participation in CCC
Respect for pastoral and Board leadership
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Compassion without judgment
Willingness to listen rather than give unnecessary advice
Commitment to church unity
The pastor and Prayer Coordinator should personally invite the initial members. A general announcement may be made later, but the founding team should be carefully selected.

September Formation Schedule
September 7–12
Appoint and Invite
- Appoint one Prayer Coordinator
- Personally invite three to five potential members
- Give each person the purpose statement and basic expectations
- Confirm availability for a weekly 30-minute meeting
September 13
Orientation
A 45-minute orientation after worship or at another agreed time, covering the biblical purpose of intercessory prayer, the Homecoming ministry vision, confidentiality, appropriate use of names and personal information, the difference between prayer, counseling, and pastoral care, referral of serious concerns, and weekly meeting expectations. Each member signs the Intercessory Prayer Team Covenant.
September 14–19
First Prayer Meeting
- Begin the weekly 30-minute prayer gathering
- Pray first for the spiritual condition of the team and congregation before receiving a large number of requests
September 20
Congregational Introduction
Briefly introduce the team during worship, explaining why the team has been formed, how members may submit prayer requests, how confidentiality will be protected, and how to request pastoral follow-up.
September 27
Commissioning
During the Psalm 126 Homecoming service, pray publicly for the team and commission its members — emphasizing service, humility, and dependence on God rather than position or recognition.

Weekly Prayer Meeting
Use the same simple 30-minute structure each week.

Read a short passage and focus on God's character.

Thanksgiving and Confession
Thank God for answered prayer and confess personal and congregational sins.

Intercession
Pray for the church, leaders, families, former participants, people without a church home, and submitted requests.

Identify answered prayers, requests requiring continued prayer, and matters requiring pastoral attention.
Prayer requests should be prayed over more than discussed. The team should not spend most of its meeting analyzing people or problems.

Prayer Request Process
One simple prayer-request card or online form, containing:

Three confidentiality levels:
Pastor Only
Sensitive matters seen only by the pastor.
Prayer Team
Shared only with the pastor, coordinator, and team members.
Congregational Prayer
May be shared more broadly with the person's permission.
Mandatory Referral
The Prayer Coordinator should review all requests before distribution. Requests involving abuse, self-harm, threats, domestic violence, child safety, or serious mental-health concerns must be referred immediately to the pastor and handled according to church policy and applicable law.

Connection to the Congregation Prayer Map
The Prayer Team should support the Prayer Map but should not collect every name on it. Each individual or household keeps its own Prayer Map; names may be shared with the Prayer Team only with permission.

Confidentiality Covenant
Every member should agree to:
01Keep prayer requests confidential
02Share names only with permission
03Avoid gossip, speculation, and unnecessary discussion
04Never use prayer information to confront or pressure someone
05Refer pastoral concerns to the pastor
06Protect confidentiality even after leaving the team
07Step away from praying for a particular case if there is a conflict of interest
Confidentiality does not mean keeping information secret when someone may be in danger or when reporting is required.

Communication with the Congregation
The Prayer Coordinator may provide a brief monthly report without revealing names or private information:
- Number of prayer requests received
- General categories of prayer
- Number of answered prayers voluntarily reported
- Number of pastoral-care referrals
- Homecoming prayer activities completed
The team should never evaluate success by the number of former members who return. Its primary measures are faithful prayer, compassionate care, appropriate follow-through, and congregational participation.

December Review
During the final week of December, the pastor, coordinator, and Board representative should evaluate:
?Did team members participate consistently?
?Was confidentiality maintained?
?Were serious concerns referred appropriately?
?Did the team strengthen the Homecoming ministry?
?Did the congregation understand how to request prayer?
?Should the team continue in 2027?
?Should additional members be invited?

As a member of the Christ Central Intercessory Prayer Team, I covenant before God and the church to serve with faithfulness, humility, compassion, and integrity.

Faithful Prayer. I will pray regularly for the requests entrusted to the team and participate faithfully in scheduled prayer meetings.
